CALLING FACULTY MENTORS

The following is a direct rip-off of Madeleine Rauch’s post on LinkedIn post about the mentorship program. For the third time, the mentorship program is offered to people people interested in Extreme Contexts. Based on conversations with many that have served as mentors the past few years, this is really an opportunity for both mentors and mentees. A call for mentees will follow, for now we are looking for people that would like to serve as mentors.

**********

I’m very delighted to launch the third edition of the Extreme Context Mentoring Program, dedicated to supporting early-career researchers interested in extreme contexts.

We are looking for faculty members willing to mentor one postdoctoral researcher or non-tenured junior faculty member through two informal conversations during the coming academic year:

• First meeting: autumn/winter 2026
• Second meeting: spring/summer 2027
• Total commitment: approximately 1–2 hours per year

The program is designed to be high impact but low commitment. Mentors are not expected to act as supervisors or “bosses.” Instead, the aim is to offer a friendly exchange, share experiences, provide guidance, and further strengthen our community. By becoming a mentor, you can help guide the next generation of scholars while fostering a culture of collaboration and support among researchers studying extreme contexts. Thank you for considering giving your time and experience to this initiative!
